Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 5 Recap
The episode begins with a flashback lightsaber sparring class between Obi-Wan and Anakin. Here, the Jedi Master teaches his padawan the value of patience as opposed to haste. So, we break the cut for the present. Darth Vader promotes Reva to Grand Inquisitor for tracking Leia and Obi-Wan to Dabiim.
In Dabiim, the rebel post must evacuate the people living there. But they must take some time. Then they barricade themselves. Meanwhile, they need to fix the spaceport, and Leia’s Skywalker genes kick in, so she offers to do some wrench work and fix the spaceport gate. Afterwards, Teva tells Obi-Wan why she defected from the Empire. Teva chose to join the Rebel Alliance because she didn’t want to see any more children dying at the hands of the Empire.
Reva Lands in Dabiim
With a slew of stormtroopers, Grand Inquisitor Reva lands in Dabiim and begins besieging the Rebel Outpost. She enters and Obi-Wan glares at her. An interesting dialogue ensues between the two, and we learn that Reva used to be a young Jedi Padawan. That’s how she knows Vader is Anakin. But Obi-Wan uses this information to turn Reva and buy some time.
Vader orders a massive attack upon landing on Dabiim, and Reva agrees to Obi-Wan’s plea for mercy. Thus, the two create a distraction. Meanwhile, stormtroopers continue their invasion of the outpost. In an intense blaster battle, Teva is gunned down. To buy some time, she sacrifices herself with a grenade to barricade a door and give Obi-Wan and the rebels time to escape.
Darth Vader lands in Dabiim
When Vader enters Dabiim, he walks through the tunnels to the outpost and sees a spaceship about to take off. So he employs his force powers to land the ship and destroy it, only to find no one there. We then cut to another sparring session between Anakin and Obi-Wan, where Anakin disarms Obi-Wan and tells him it’s over because he has no weapon. But Obi-Wan uses the force to take away his lightsaber. So, we break the cut for the present. Just as Vader finds no one on the spacecraft, another spacecraft takes off with everyone on board.
When Vader sees that Leia and Obi-Wan have escaped again, Reva appears behind him with her lightsaber and tries to take a swing at him. But Darth Vader uses force to subdue her. A nasty battle ensues where Vader tries to give Reva a chance, only to overwhelm her and leave her badly injured. He asks her if she thinks he can’t see through her ruse. Then the former Grand Inquisitor appears, takes a seal from Reva’s lapel, and Vader leaves Reva for dead.
In agony, she realizes that Obi-Wan has left her communicator on the floor and opens it. And she sees a message about Tatooine. We immediately cut to Obi-Wan on the spaceship talking to the rebels and Leia, and he is shocked that Reva is using the force to contact him. Once again we cut to Tatooine, zoom in on Uncle Owen’s farm and see young Luke sleeping in his bed. And so Obi-Wan is scared, as he fears that something might come his way. And the episode ends with that cliffhanger.
