EN.BADAKSATU.COM – The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan, Heri Akhmadi, visited Sappporo, Hokkaido, for the integrated promotion of Indonesia Friendship Day (IFD) from 17 to 18 June 2022.
Integrated activities carried out by the Embassy of Indonesia in Tokyo in collaboration with the Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Sapporo included a series of meetings with Mayor of Sapporo Katsuhiro Akimoto; meeting with the Hokkaido-Chuo-Kai Agricultural Cooperative Union of Japan; visits to Tokushukai Hospital; meeting with the Sapporo Fishermen’s Association; consular and immigration services; Integrated Trade, Tourism and Investment Promotion Forum (TTI); and a meeting with Indonesian citizens in Sapporo.
In particular, Ambassador Heri gave a public lecture at Hokkaido University on the topic of the Indonesian presidency at the G20, Ambassador Heri Akhmadi highlighted the wide gap between developed and developing countries, particularly in efforts to overcome the pandemic. This is one of the factors that encourage Indonesia to present the Global Health Architecture as one of the priority issues.
Meeting with the Mayor of Sapporo, Ambassador Heri emphasized the importance of strengthening labor, education and research cooperation between Indonesia and the city of Sapporo.
“We encourage entrepreneurs in Sapporo and Hokkaido to recruit skilled human resources from Indonesia to work in the caregiver, agriculture, construction, hospitality, food and beverage manufacturing sectors. This can be done through a specified skilled worker placement scheme. Another thing is the exploration of cooperation in education, research or others. Especially optimizing the existence and role of the Hokkaido Bio-Technology Industrial Cluster Farm,” said Ambassador Heri who was accompanied by Ms. Nuning Akhmadi, First Secretary for Political Function Yanuar Ardhitya Pribadi, Commercial Attaché Arief Wibisono and Financial Attaché Sonny Surachman Ramli.
To Ambassador Heri, the mayor of Sapporo, Katsuhiro Akimoto, said that in the city of Sapporo there are many students and workers from Indonesia. “In the future, we are ready to try to generate jobs, both in the healthcare, manufacturing, industrial and service sectors,” said Katsuhiro Akimoto.
In this series of IFD activities in Sapporo, the Consular Protocol and Immigration Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo provides services to Indonesian nationals in and around Sapporo. Indonesian citizens who attended performed new passport issuance and passport renewal services. They also receive services in the form of marriage consultations, birth certificates, legalization and self-reporting on the WNI Care Portal.
In January 2022, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo launched the Indonesia Friendship Day program. This is an integrated TTI public service and promotion program in 11 cities in Japan, namely Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Sendai, Mito, Yokohama, Okinawa, Kesennuma, Kumamoto and Shizuoka.
In 2023, the IFD program will continue and expand through closer collaboration with diaspora groups and Indonesian friends. Including through the implementation of the Friendship Festival Indonesia Japan 2023. (UNCLE)
