[Drama chat] The story you want to see as a K-drama
While it’s probably true that there’s nothing new under the sun, it’s also a lot of fun to see your favorite stories adapted for the screen. Lately, we’ve seen more and more dramas taking life from webtoons and web novels, and sometimes from regular novels. While they came in with high expectations, it was also fun to see the story translated to the screen.
Now, Hollywood’s favorite Victorian novels is one thing (smallpox in the idea!), but dramatizing a story is an entirely different game. It requires a solid understanding of the genre, its form and the elements that make it fly off the screen and into your heart.
What’s a favorite story you’d like to see turned into a 16-episode K-drama? Give the story a name—book, movie, etc. — and tell us why. And if you’re feeling more sophisticated, take a hint.
