Korean Modern Literature Class

The Seorae Global Village Center is offering a special class on Korean modern literature as follows:

  • Subject: 20th Century Korean Literature (translated into English)
  • Instructor: Shim Ah-jin, a Korean writer
  • Date & Time: Feb. 3 (Fri) from 1
  • Fees: Free of charge

Participants can better understand the Korean psyche by learning about 20th century Korean literature through three short novels that are translated into English and French: “Spring Spring” by Kim Yu-jeong, “The Rainy Spell” by Yun Heung-gil, and “Sword” by Lee Seung-woo.

Recruiting Passionate Foreign Instructors

for ‘Neighbors From Afar’

Educational program for students to promote global mindset

 

The Seoul Metropolitan Government is inviting foreign instructors who would like to introduce their own culture to preschoolers and students in elementary, middle and high schools in Seoul.

 

Application Deadline: Jan. 31 (Tuesday), 2012

Seat Availability: 26 people

Qualification: Foreigners or naturalized Korean citizens who meet all of the following requirements

 

  • Individuals who can speak English or Korean
  • Individuals who are available 2-3 times each month during the 5 months period
  • Individuals who have passion to introduce one’s own culture to Korean students

 

²  Priority will be given to those whose have fluent Korean proficiency.

 

Documents to submit: application form, self-introduction letter and a lesson plan (in English or Korean) and a copy of the following documents as proof of identity/eligibility (ID card, proof of school enrollment, proof of your career experience, official Korean language or English test scores)

   Please be advised that we accept registration only during the application period. 

Application procedure: Actual applicants must visit SGC in person and fill out the form

                    Online or proxy application is not acceptable.

The Yeoksam Global Village Center is providing a Business Korean class starting on Friday, July 16, 13:30~15:00. The course is mainly designed for foreigners who need to interact with Korean colleagues in office environments.  This class is geared toward students who already have an intermediate to upper intermediate level of Korean.

Course description: Covers various situations that can take place in a Korean Office, office vocabulary, writing emails in Korean, writing a Korean resume and Korean office culture

1. Duration:  July 16 ~ October 29, 2010 (4 months), 13:30~15:00
2. Location:  Seminar room, Yeoksam Global Village Center
3. Registration period:  Starting July 1, open until full
4. Application procedure:  Must be done in person at the Yeoksam GVC
5. Fees: Course is free of charge (The textbook must be purchased by students)
6. Necessary documents : A passport sized color photo of the applicant (size: 3×4 cm)
7. Admission will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
8. Availability: Between 10 and 12 students

During the course, if a student is absent more than 5 times, the student will no longer be allowed to participate in the class. If your schedule does not allow you to attend the course regularly, you may not be accepted into the class.

  • Who can use the library?  Everyone is welcome to use our library.  
  • Restriction on checking out:  To be eligible for checking out, you must plan to stay in Seoul for more than one month. You may check out as many as two books at one time, for a maximum of two weeks.
  • Renewing: You may renew books only once, and must do so at least three days before they are due via phone call, email or walk-in visit. You will not be able to check out books if you over due more than twice.
  • What is the procedure to check out books? You will have to fill out a form on a book checkout list and bring it to the staff with your ID card.
